Politics and kindness? Never!

Alright, I'm pretty sure this goes against all kinds of blogging rules. But tonight got me so worked up, I just wanted to type away to my little heart's content. So here it is!

I hate election time. I really do. I get really passionate about my beliefs, who I'm voting for, and why I'm voting for them. But I also know when to hold my tongue, how to be tactful and in most cases have to be asked or invited into a conversation about it. Otherwise I tend to actually avoid it all together. Especially if that person is someone I know and we are voting for different parties.

Never would I insinuate someone was stupid or uneducated simply because they voted differently than me. Sure, I wonder where the hell they're coming from and why they're voting for who they're voting for. But I never make it a point to call them a name. Is name calling and fighting so immaturely really going to change my mind and make me reconsider my vote? Nope. In fact, it will probably solidify my reasons for voting the way I intend to.

It just makes my blood boil. If it's something you feel so passionately about - speak with the facts, your heart and kindness. I just don't get it.

So, there's my little piece for today. :)

Also, I realize this sounds like I'm trying to hide who I'm voting for. Not sure how I translate online, but if you know me offline, I'm pretty liberal. Everyone is equal and I think peace is the way. Obama is my President and I stand behind him! ;)
