Let's get outta this town, baby we're on fire//Saturday Confessional

Minnie Mouse in the house, y'all!

Looks like I got so distracted this week with everything that I kind of forgot/didn't feel like posting anything around here. I even forgot about Saturday Confessional. Whoops.

This side of the screen has been lots of Thanksgiving goodness, Black Friday madness, and catching up on sleep and leftovers. Today I'm back to the grind with working though. We have a pretty little festival to attend in a quaint little town that's adorable.  I'm going to try to remember to take some pictures.

Here's another ten Saturday Confessionals/Facts (I'm going to try to get to 100).

  • I love Black Friday madness. I like a good deal, being up late at night, and pumped with everyone else in line. I don't condone fights, attitude and disrespect. I'm in it all for the fun.
  • I think it's a huge turn off when a girl (or guy for that matter) has bitten down her nails, has uneven nails, or just rough looking hands all together. Nail clippers/a file and some lotion never hurt nobody. ;)
  • So, because I'm warming up to the idea of marriage, I started casually looking at rings, and I think it's safe to say I'm not big into bling. I like simple. I mean, I think I could be proposed to with a twisty tie and I'd be just as happy.
  • I prefer to sleep on the right side of the bed.
  • I could probably eat pasta salad as a meal every day until I die and I'd be in heaven.
  • I'm half Mexican (Mom) and my Dad was some mix of Native American and what I ever-so-lovingly refer to as Redneck. No, I don't speak spanish. Yes, I grew up in a latino household. Go ahead and judge me. I'm used to it.
  • Saw a lady in the line at Target on Thursday wearing a track suit. My first thought: "Embarrassing". Sorry.
  • I'm pretty sure I have a semi-lazy eye. People tell me no, but I think they're being kind.
  • I have a pretty bad and embarrassing habit of "recycling" boys. I should learn that once I kick them to the curb, I need to leave them there!
  • I'm agnostic, but I love Christmas music. Go figure. ;)

Full Bellies and Happy Hearts,

Happy Thanks.

It's Thanksgiving! I can't wait to eat my fair share of green bean casserole, sweet potato pie, and mashed potatoes.

  • I am most thankful this year and every year for my Mother. She was my sole provider growing up. All we had was each other my entire childhood, and I cherish her for never giving up. For never making me feel like her job as a single Mother was too hard or too much of a burden. I am thankful that she allows me to be who I want to be, express how I feel, and believe what I feel is right and not only accept me, but support me and shower me with love.

  • I am thankful for my friendships. I don't have siblings, so many of my close friends are like the family. I am so thankful that these people are in my life. That we love and support each other and respect our friendship enough to never, ever let it fizzle. I am so thankful for the memories, the laughs, experiences, and lessons.

  • I am thankful for everything that I've gone through this year. The good, the bad, the ugly (and boring!). I have learned so many things from everything that has happened this year. I'm even thankful for the people I've said goodbye to this year. Even through the tears and tantrums - I. Am. Thankful.

  • Lastly, I am thankful for my body. So thankful. I mean, without it, I wouldn't be here! The fact that I could be so careless with it, and yet my little heart beats every single minute of every single day. Wow. Definitely need to make it a resolution to respect it more (I need to get my running shoes back on)!

Spending a day with family and a delicious feast and taking time to remember how thankful we are for everything and everyone in our lives is so lovely. But I think it's important to take some time as often as possible to celebrate what we're thankful for. Whether it's a brief moment between work phone calls and emails, or in the shower while washing your hair.

Happy Hearts,

Alex

It was a grave yard smash.

Happy Halloween!!
My favorite holiday has arrived! The party this weekend was such a great time. I didn't practice my sugar skull make up at all. In fact, I ended up winging a lot of it, and started to hate myself for not practicing. But I don't think it was too terrible, and after a few drinks, I didn't care anyway. ;)

I wish I would've taken more pictures. I actually don't have any at all, but a few here and there that have popped up on Facebook.

Next up? Thanksgiving! Can't wait.

I've also been summoned to Jury Duty. And I know it's my duty as an American. But damnit. I don't want to! If they end up needing me, my job only pays for three days. Also, it's two days before I move. I need to pack and finish up last minute things. Nothing about Jury Duty appeals to me. And having to go downtown to the courthouse and not know where I'm going or what I'm doing gives me moderate anxiety.

Time to snuggle up and watch some spooky stuff on TV. Happy Halloween!

the dog days are over.

I love this picture. Probably because I love glitter and sparkle.

This Thanksgiving was grand and I am truly thankful for the life that I live. For my family and my friends. Without them I wouldn't be the woman I am in this moment. I am thankful that I have the freedom to be me without judgement or fear.

Black Friday was intense. But I loved every minute of it! Started shopping at midnight and didn't get home until a little after 8am. I crashed until 1pm and then went out for round two.

I've cleaned, taken a shower, started a load of laundry and enjoyed a slice of pumpkin pie. Now it's time to settle down for work tomorrow.

Love, love, love.
